Led by the University of Cordoba (UCO), the Agri-food Campus of International Excellence is a joint initiative between the Universities of Almeria (UAL), Cadiz (UCA), Huelva (UHU) and Jaen (UJA). The goal of the Campus is to become not only a world-renowned Campus of Excellence but also to play an essential role in the development of the agri-food sector in Andalusia.

Therefore, ceiA3 pursues ceiA3 Universities’ modernisation and internationalisation, so that they drive the change towards a sustainable productive model built on knowledge, giving a boost to institutions which are located in the same geographical area: universities, research centres and technology parks.

To this end, ceiA3 is determined to achieve excellence in all areas: teaching and training, research, innovation, knowledge transfer, internationalisation and management. In order to achieve this goal, measures that bring about enhancement will be developed in the areas of teaching, research, knowledge transfer to agri-food businesses, training, talent retention, interaction with the social and economic sectors, and internationalisation.

  • To offer a wide range of undergraduate and master’s programmes to students who wish to specialise in the agri-food sector: innovative, appealing, useful programmes which offer a sensitive syllabus and which are delivered both in Spanish and English by the best qualified teaching staff of the ceiA3 Universities and other universities overseas, researchers of the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (Spanish National Research Council, CSIC), the Instituto Andaluz de Investigación y Formación Agraria, Pesquera, Alimentaria y de la Producción Ecológica (Andalusian Institute for Research and Training in Agriculture, Fisheries, Foods and Organic Production, IFAPA), and professionals of the agri-food business. Because the Campus is made up of universities scattered throughout the region, virtual learning based on information and communication technologies is essential.
  • To establish strong collaboration links between the 239 research groups brought together by ceiA3 and agri-food companies – more than 5000 in Andalusia – in order to enhance knowledge transfer to the agri-food sector.
  • The international nature of ceiA3 entails globally prestigious training for students and teachers. The Excellence Award guarantees quality, and students who attend undergraduate, master or doctorate agri-food programmes will find in ceiA3 what they look for.
  • To foster interaction with the environment (technology and scientific parks, research centres, centres for rural development, county councils, city councils, the Cátedra de Gastronomía de Andalucía (Andalusian Gastronomy Program), the Sociedad Española de Seguridad Alimentaria (Spanish Agency for Food Safety), and the Fundación Red Andalucía Emprende (non-profit making organisation dedicated to supporting economic activity in the Community of Andalusia), etc., since these entities will be capable of providing the synergies needed to achieve ceiA3’s goals. A unique Campus has been established and it has been the result of everybody’s effort: teachers, students, management and services staff, CSIC and IFAPA’s researchers, businessmen and politicians; all of them should be privileged to contribute to the achievement of such goals.
